Manchester United transfer target Serhou Guirassy has been ‘flattered’ by the interest from the Old Trafford club ahead of the January transfer window.

The Reds have been struggling in many departments so far this season, particularly in scoring goals.

Despite success in finding the net when playing Champions League football, United have only scored 16 goals in their opening 14 Premier League fixtures.

Rasmus Hojlund has been starved of chances and is still inexperienced, whilst the likes of Marcus Rashford and Antony have not been chipping in with the goals either.

Recent reports stated that United would look to bring in a centre-forward to help aid the load up front, and the Bundesliga forward has emerged as an option.

It has been claimed that United are monitoring VfB Stuttgart forward Guirassy and are ‘pondering’ the thought of activating the striker’s £15 million release clause, which is valid from January.

Now, Bild have reported that Guirassy is ‘flattered’ by the interest shown by the Old Trafford club.

The 27-year-old has 17 goals in just 12 appearances so far this term as VfB Stuttgart sit third in the Bundesliga table.

As things stand, the future of the Guinean forward has not yet been resolved. “Everything is still open, but he is definitely on United’s list,” Sky transfer expert Florian Plettenberg said.

The reporter has also stated that United ‘have asked’ about the conditions needed to carry out the transfer, and they are the club the player ‘could think about’ joining in the winter market.

If the interest from Old Trafford becomes concrete, Plettenberg says they can be a ‘serious option’ for Guirassy, who ‘can leave’ the Bundesliga club in the January transfer window.
