Sporting Lisbon midfielder Morten Hjulmand has sent Manchester United fans an exciting message about the club’s new head coach Ruben Amorim

Manchester United announced Ruben Amorim as the man to replace Erik ten Hag last week after the Dutchman was sacked.

The Portuguese boss will continue at Sporting Lisbon for their final two games before the international break. He will travel to Manchester to start his new role on 11 November.

There is a lot of excitement about the move amongst the fanbase but not everyone is familiar with the 39-year-old beyond his well-known achievements at Sporting.

Hjulmand sends exciting Amorim message

Sporting captain Morten Hjulmand spoke to the media ahead of their Champions League clash against Manchester City this week and was asked about what United can expect from Amorim.

The midfielder explained how Amorim helped him see a ‘clear picture’ and how he thinks United are in ‘good hands’ with their appointment.

“Of course, Ruben was one of the reasons why I came to Sporting,” explained Hjulmand.

“When you work with Ruben you see a clear picture. That was important when I joined Sporting – first to understand how he plays.

“The way that he manages the team inside the pitch and outside the pitch as well is not like I anything I have seen in my short career.

“I think Manchester [United] are in good hands with Ruben.”

Hjulmand: Eriksen and Højlund will have a million questions

Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes have both spoken positively about the appointment. Of course, the Portuguese duo will be more aware of Amorim than their club teammates.

Hjulmand, a Danish international, thinks that his national teammates Rasmus Højlund and Christian Eriksen will have ‘a million questions’ about Amorim during the next international break.

“I haven’t spoken to them yet,” the Danish midfielder added, when asked about Højlund and Eriksen.

“Maybe I will see them in the international break. I haven’t spoken with them, but I think they will have a million questions when I speak to them next!”
