Sir Jim Ratcliffe had been handed a massive boost as Michael Olise would prefer to sign for Manchester United over Chelsea this summer, according to reports.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a number of weeks ago, reportedly identified Michael Olise as his No. 1 attacking target for his first summer in charge of Manchester United‘s sporting activities.

Alongside INEOS, Ratcliffe has secured control of all football operations at the club surrounding Erik ten Hag, which includes identifying targets and pulling off transfers.

According to Football London, Olise would prefer to sign for the Old Trafford club this summer over Chelsea, who have been interested in the player.

Chelsea almost signed Olise in the closing days of the summer transfer window in 2023; however, at the last moment, the French winger chose to commit his future to Crystal Palace with a new 5-year contract.

The move had even gone as far as Chelsea activating Olise’s original £35 million release clause in his old contract before the new deal was signed.

In that contract, it is said that there is a release clause believed to be around £60 million, which Ratcliffe will no doubt be eyeing up to activate once the window opens.

Manchester United are reportedly closely monitoring Olise and his circumstances in anticipation of a potential summer transfer, but Chelsea are still expected to pursue him once again once the season comes to a conclusion.
