Erik ten Hag has been urged to stick with INEOS’ transfer plan to sell Antony and bring in Michael Olise for Manchester United next summer.

With INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe now in control of Manchester United‘s sporting activities, reports claim they have identified Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise as their primary attacking target.

Erik ten Hag‘s tenure at United has been shrouded by questions about Antony, who the club bought for £85 million in 2022 at the request of the Dutch manager, but has so far failed to make the impact many expected at the club.

With the club needing funds for the summer, it has been said that United are looking to offload Antony and Jadon Sancho for £50 million each this summer in order to funnel the money back into transfers into the squad.

Andy Cole, the legendary United striker, believes that Olise would be a great addition to the United team and would definitely be an upgrade on Antony.

“I like the kid, and he’s very talented. He proved he was a talented kid when he was at Reading, and he’s shown that at Crystal Palace, too,” Cole said about Olise in an interview with BetFred.

“Regarding his injuries, injuries are part and parcel of football, but judging him on his performances alone, he’s grown into that Crystal Palace team, and he’s still only 22 years of age.”

Olise is thought to have a release clause in his current Crystal Palace contract of around £60 million, making a sale of Antony and the purchase of Olise a swing of around £110 million.

“Is he an upgrade on Antony? Most definitely,” Cole continued. “I read something that Dwight Yorke said about Antony recently, and he claimed that he felt sorry for him, and to a certain extent, I feel sorry for him too. To this day, I’m still unsure why they paid as much as they did for him and you can say he’s young and whatever, but I’m still waiting to see what he’s good at.

“If Olise does join in the summer, then he can bring a lot more to Manchester United because he’s very direct, he’s creative, he scores goals and he’s prepared to take people on. If the move happens, then it’s a signing that could take the team in the right direction.”
