“Have to keep…” Matthijs de Ligt reveals what Rúben Amorim must do at Manchester United

Matthijs de Ligt has revealed what he hopes Rúben Amorim will do as he becomes Manchester United’s next head coach this week.
A few weeks ago, Manchester United confirmed Rúben Amorim as their new Head Coach following the departure of Erik ten Hag.
Though Ten Hag had been granted a contract extension over the summer, poor results left United struggling in 14th place in the Premier League and 21st in the Europa League, leading to his dismissal two weeks ago. The club acted swiftly to secure Amorim as his successor.

During the transition, Ruud van Nistelrooy stepped in as interim manager, guiding the team through four matches, with three victories and one draw, aiming to “stabilise the ship.”
Amorim is set to arrive in England on Monday, 11 November, to officially begin his role, with his first match scheduled for 24 November, away at Ipswich Town.
What Matthijs de Ligt wants to see
Matthijs de Ligt has been one of United’s most consistent players across the last two months, and is expected to have a significant role to play as the club enters a new era under Amorim’s guidance.
When asked about Amorim and what he can do at United, De Ligt told ViaPlay: “I don’t know much about the new coach yet, but I do know that he did a good job at Sporting. With a new coach, it’s always a bit of a wait and see. You have to do your very best and remain yourself.”
Further, De Ligt explained that he hopes Amorim can make the team even better and collect points against sides such as Leicester City, as they did on Sunday afternoon.
“Hopefully, the team will get even better. We have to keep winning these kinds of matches: you can win and lose to anyone in the Premier League. You can see that again now with Tottenham against Ipswich.
“You have to be ready every week and I hope that the new coach will get the continuity and that we can play with confidence.”
Van Nistelrooy should stay
A lot has been made about the future of interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has a two-year contract with the club until 2026.
Asked for his opinion on the matter, De Ligt said: “In my opinion, Ruud can remain an assistant. I found him very pleasant in that role.”
AMroim and Van Nistelrooy are set for talks on Monday as his future is decided.
