Mason Mount recalls moment he was offered Manchester United No. 7 shirt
Mason Mount recently became Manchester United’s new No. 7 and has recalled the moment he was offered the famous jersey.
Mason Mount has become the latest addition to Manchester United‘s squad, with the former Chelsea player signing for Erik ten Hag‘s side for a £55 million fee.
The deal also includes a further £5m in add-ons, which Chelsea will only receive if Mount plays in the majority of campaigns where United win major trophies.

One surprising moment during the announcement came when Mount’s squad number was revealed – he has taken the reigns of the No. 7 shirt previously worn by his idols Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham.
“I wasn’t expecting it,” he told club media when asked how he felt when he was offered the shirt. “But it’s the challenge of it, what it represents and what you’re representing – it’s special.
“I didn’t want to turn it down, of course, it’s exactly what I wanted. I was absolutely buzzing when I found out.”
It has been reported that Ten Hag offered Mount the No.7 shirt during their discussions, underlining how much United wanted him amid interest from Liverpool and Arsenal.
Further to this, it is said that Ten Hag was the “pivotal” reason why Mount decided to choose United over the other two aforementioned clubs.
