Mason Mount sends heartfelt message to Chelsea director as Man United return confirmed
Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount has sent a heartfelt message to former Chelsea director Neil Bath after his exit from Stamford Bridge was confirmed.
Mount, 25, joined United from Chelsea last summer after spending almost two decades at the club.
His first season in Red was largely underwhelming due to various injury setbacks throughout the Premier League campaign.
It was announced by Chelsea on Thursday afternoon that Neil Bath, their Director of Football Development and Operations, had decided to step down from his position at Stamford Bridge.
Bath spent more than 30 years at the London-based club and played an important part in Mount’s development as a player.
The now-United midfielder has taken to Instagram to send a heartfelt message to Bath.
“Neil, thank you for your incredible leadership and dedication while I was in the academy,” the 26-year-old wrote.
“It was because of your commitment to nurturing talent that massively influenced and shaped the academy’s achievements. Wishing you all the best in the future.”
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed that United will return to Carrington for pre-season training next Monday.
They will play against Rosenberg and Rangers on July 15 and 20, respectively, before jetting off to the United States.
Erik ten Hag’s side will then face Arsenal, Real Betis and Liverpool before returning to England to face Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley Stadium.
Mount will be keen to display his talents ahead of an important season for him and the club.
