Mason Greenwood sends Jadon Sancho message as Man United make new loanee transfer plan
Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has sent Jadon Sancho a message following his qualification to the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund.
Greenwood has scored 10 goals and registered six assists in 32 appearances at Getafe this season.
The forward joined the La Liga club on loan in September after United said they wanted to avoid him becoming a distraction despite criminal charges against him being dropped after allegations, which Greenwood denied, of attempted rape, controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service said there was “no longer a realistic prospect of conviction” after key witnesses withdrew their cooperation and new material came to light.
Sancho, as well, has been on loan since the January transfer window after being exiled from Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad. He reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund this week, where they will face Real Madrid.
Greenwood sends Sancho message
Following Dortmund’s victory against PSG in the semi-final, Sancho posted on Instagram with the caption: “Champions League Final! Wow wow wow, Unbelievable! WEMBLEY HERE WE COME!”
In the comments, Greenwood replied with two clapping emojis, in one of the first occasions he has commented on a United teammate’s post since he returned to football.
United’s transfer plan
According to Sky Sports, United are focusing on selling both Sancho and Greenwood because they could receive respectable fees.
The two loanees could generate around £80 million for the club if both are sold for the expected price, and Greenwood’s departure would be considered as pure profit on the balance sheets.
Sky Sports reporter Melissa Reddy said: “I’ve been told that United’s focus on overhauling their squad will centre around getting good offers for Sancho and Greenwood.”
