Man United hold talks with agents of Real Madrid hero ahead of summer transfer window
Manchester United have held talks with the agency of Spanish striker Joselu, who is on loan at Real Madrid this season.
The 34-year-old striker moved to the La Liga champions at the start of the season from Espanyol and has helped them to win the Spanish title.
He was also the saviour in the semi-final of the Champions League, scoring twice against Bayern Munich in the final minutes to turn the tie around with the German side 1-0 up.
With 16 goals and three assists this season, the veteran striker is understandably attracting interest ahead of next season.
According to Relevo, United have enquired about the forward, with INEOS looking to strengthen the frontline.
Rasmus Højlund will be the only senior striker at Old Trafford when Anthony Martial’s contract expires at the end of the season.
Matteo Moretto expanded on this information, stating that while there have been discussions between United and the player’s agents, his number one choice is to remain at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Writing on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing substack, Moretto detailed: “My colleagues at Relevo teammates have spoken of enquiries from Manchester United about Real Madrid’s Joselu Mato.
“He is on loan from Espanyol, but Real Madrid have an option to make that deal permanent for €1.5m this summer. So far, I know there has only been a discussion between United and his agents.
It is true that Joselu’s future is yet to be decided but I can assure you that the priority for the veteran target man is to stay at Real Madrid this summer, and he will exhaust his options to do so before considering alternatives.
“If Real Madrid decide they do not want Joselu next season, he has many clubs interested in him, in England, Italy and Germany.”
