Manchester United’s Randal Kolo Muani loan interest driven by ‘appealing’ unknown trait
Manchester United are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain forward Randal Kolo Muani on loan this month.
Ruben Amorim will be eager for Manchester United to make some signings in the January transfer window to help bolster his squad.
However, as the head coach has admitted, the financial situation at Old Trafford makes any signings quite difficult to make.
Sales will be needed over the coming weeks and the Reds will also need to be smart in how they approach any deals for players.
United interested in Kolo Muani loan
One of the first credible stories of the transfer window comes from The Athletic’s David Ornstein, who has reported that Randal Kolo Muani is the subject of loan interest from United, Tottenham Hotspur and Juventus.
It was explained that the PSG striker and his representatives have been made aware of this interest, with all three of those clubs having expressed an interest in signing him on loan.
Kolo Muani moved to the French capital in the summer of 2023 and has since had a difficult time replicating his form from Eintracht Frankfurt.
He has only started two league fixtures for PSG so far this season after falling out of favour under Luis Enrique.
United’s appeal in Kolo Muani deal
United’s interest in Kolo Muani is nothing new, with Laurie Whitwell detailing that the French striker was the second-choice to Rasmus Højlund two years ago when United were planning to sign a striker.
Since then, scouts from United have kept tabs on the 25-year-old and there is one ‘appealing’ reason Whitwell detailed to their pursuit.
It is stated that Kolo Muani’s tactical flexibility, with the ability to play on either wing or up front, makes him an appealing option for Amorim, who has limited options in those forward positions.
According to transfermarkt, over the course of his career, Kolo Muani has played 145 games as a striker, 55 as a number ten, 12 as a left winger and 20 as a right winger.
That isn’t an overwhelming amount of game-time to show that he is majorly comfortable in those different positions, but it is likely that scouts have identified that he has the attributes to play in the unique roles in Amorim’s system.

He could fit into either of the positions behind the striker or even be that front man himself. And while his form is concerning, United do not many different options this month.
