Manchester United have reportedly become willing to part ways with one of their forwards in order to bring in fresh attackers.
Manchester United are planning to revitalize their squad this summer after a poor 2024/25 season.
Ruben Amorim’s side’s biggest problem this season has been scoring goals. As things stand United will end the season having scored the second least goals of all the non-relegated sides in the Premier League.
In order to prevent a similar embarrassment next season, United are looking to bring in fresh attacking players. Matheus Cunha looks likely to join United and Liam Delap is also being heavily linked with the club.
In order to make changes in their attacking department, United have reportedly become willing to let one of their forwards go.
United willing to sell Hojlund
Caught Offside have reported that United are willing to part ways with Rasmus Hojlund “United are prepared to listen to offers for the Danish striker during the upcoming summer transfer window,” they wrote.
The 22-year-old has had a difficult season at United, having only scored four goals in 29 appearances in the Premier League.
Despite a poor league campaign, Hojlund is currently the joint top scorer for United in the Europa League alongside Bruno Fernandes. Hojlund always seems to shine in Europe as last season in the Champions League only Antoine Griezmann scored more open-play goals than him despite United not making it out of the group stage.
This European form has led to interest from a number of clubs, especially in Italy where Hojlund played before joining United.
Caught Offside explained the Italian club’s interest – “Juventus view Hojlund as one of their primary targets. Meanwhile, Napoli are also positioning themselves for a move. With the club determined to convince Antonio Conte to stay for another season, they are prioritising key reinforcements. Hojlund has long been admired by Conte, who wanted an additional striker to support Romelu Lukaku last summer.”
Hojlund sale might be mistake
Despite a poor season for Hojlund he is still a very young player and can still improve, especially if the pressure is taken off him.
When United initially signed Hojlund he was being touted as a young striker that would come in alongside a more seasoned player to learn under them. However, due to United’s poor business, the club ended up paying above the odds for Hojlund and did not bring in a more experienced player.
If United sold Hojlund then the strikers at the club would be Chido Obi (who is still very young and is yet to register a senior goal involvement) and Joshua Zirkzee (who has played a lot of his best football in the position behind the striker). Although are likely to bring in a new striker, this looks likely to be Liam Delap who at 22 is the same age as Hojlund and has had fewer seasons playing top-flight football.

Another player who United had previously been linked with and whom Ruben Amorim has been asked about in recent press conferences is Viktor Gyokeres. However, Gyokeres’ career path is proof that sticking to Hojlund may pay off.
Although the Sporting Lisbon striker has had a prolific season and is wanted across Europe, he didn’t score a top-flight goal until he was 24 years old, two years older than Hojlund currently is.
Although Hojlund’s 2025/25 campaign has been a poor one, United would be better off bringing in another striker for him to learn under and that will take the pressure off of him. If Hojlund is treated how United originally planned to use him, as a striker with potential who needs to develop, then the club could still salvage this transfer.
