Manchester United’s decision to retain Sekou Kone may soon pay off as they pursue one of the Mali star’s international youth teammates.
Manchester United has been on a streak of adding to the club’s successful academy setup, signing exciting talents such as Harley Emsden-James and Diego Leon.
The Reds aim to continue this type of signing, giving Ruben Amorim the perfect armoury of talented youngsters.
Sekou Kone is another player the Reds have recently signed for their youth setup. The 19-year-old left Malian side Guidars FC for a fee of over £1 million last year.
Now the Reds are turning their focus to Kone’s Malian U21s teammate, as the club hopes to build a promising young backbone in this transitional phase.
United keeping a close eye on Sinate
The Reds have a notoriously strong youth setup, producing some of the most exciting talents of past generations and the modern game. Signings like this would continue this expectation, with high-potential youngsters coming through.
Dan Sinate fits this bill, having played most of his youth football in France for the Monaco and Angers academies. The young defender is reportedly looking for a new challenge in Manchester.
Sinate has played for France’s youth teams since a young age, but recently switched to Mali and now represents the under-23s, alongside the highly respected youngster Kone.
The Sun has highlighted Sinate’s strengths in ‘dribbling, positioning, technique and confidence on the ball’, attributes that would certainly fit Amorim’s fluid tactics.
At 19, Sinate would likely go straight into the under-21s and join the likes of Jaydon Kamson and Rhys Bennett at the back, but will hopefully be provided a pathway to push for first-team football.
Kone to help sweeten deal
It’s no secret that Amorim favours Kone as one of United’s next academy prospects, having played him in pre-season before his injury and consistently praised him in the media ever since the Portuguese manager took charge.
However, some still saw it as a bizarre decision to keep Kone instead of loaning him out to experience first-team football, but the call to halt his move away could be about to pay off.
Kone’s relation to Sinate could help United complete the signing, as the two would have some rapport representing Mali at the youth level.
Kone was reportedly in negotiations with the Swiss side Lausanne for a potential loan move, but was eventually kept at the club after impressing Amorim.
This may also help the midfield situation, with the first four midfielders underperforming so far this season, Amorim may look to Kone to make his debut for the Reds at some point before the end of the campaign.
Fans will be eager to see how this situation unfolds and hope to see the acquisition of the highly respected youngster Sinate relatively soon, with the prospect of Kone appearing in the first team.
