Manchester United are not letting Liam Delap’s decision deter them in the transfer market, as they have already turned their attention to a new trio of strikers to boost the side ahead of next season.
Liam Delap’s decision to join Chelsea will have been a blow internally for Manchester United, but it’s hard to argue with the English striker’s logic for signing for the side from Stamford Bridge. United’s lack of Champions League football is a huge negative selling point.
United are left now with new decisions to make in regard to where they go next for a potential striker option for next season, but they are said to have wasted no time and have already tallied up a list of three forwards they admire.
With Matheus Cunha confirmed today officially by the club, focus has turned to trying to get a deal done for a forward to help Rasmus Hojlund next season, providing he does not leave.
The three names being touted are exciting, and may end up meaning missing out on Delap is a blessing instead of a hindrance.
United eyeing four strikers this summer
Manchester United have wasted no time moving on from Liam Delap, and they are already hunting the market for a new striker to bring into the club this summer. The Reds are reportedly looking at up to four strikers.
This is according to the Mirror, which has said United have turned their attention to the likes of Victor Osimhen, Jonathan David, Jean Phillipe Mateta and Randal Kolo-Muani in a bid to add more goals to the team.
Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles are well documented this season, and it looks as though the side from Manchester are now eager to either help the Dane going into next season or replace him altogether if he gets a move away.
David is a free agent at the moment, which makes a deal for the Canadian a cheap and enticing one. Others like Mateta and Osimhen would cost huge sums, while Kolo-Muani had a tough season with Juventus this season and may be available for a bit cheaper considering his current reputation, with PSG perhaps looking to get the striker off their books.
United need to act fast
United need to act very fast. They arguably need two strikers, and they cannot afford to go into the season next year without some significant investment put into those forward areas.
Victor Gyokeres is a name not mentioned, but he is also expected to be part of the final shortlist internally at the club when it comes to striker targets. Jonathan David is someone the club could sign alongside a big-money target, as a free transfer for a player of his talents is a no-brainer deal to do.
This is the biggest summer in almost 30 years for the club, and INEOS, along with Ruben Amorim, simply cannot afford to get this wrong, as it would be hugely detrimental to the future of the club as a whole.
Early signs in regard to targets are positive, but talk is cheap, and United have to act now or risk falling further behind the pack than they already are.
