Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox have made a move to sign a top teenage talent for a low fee, but face competition from Chelsea.
Manchester United’s transfer strategy has varied over the years, but recent signings have proven two likely sources of success.
High fees for more assured success in the likes of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have proven to be imperative to United’s current push for Champions League football.
Meanwhile, low-cost and low-risk signings, such as Ayden Heaven, have received large amounts of praise, proving that United do not need to break the bank to strengthen their squad.
A new name has appeared in United’s transfer search as the club has taken action to make the signing official. However, United face competition from more of Europe’s elites.
Wilcox “trying” for next young talent
Tromso defender Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh has caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs, according to reports from the Daily Mail, including United and Chelsea.
However, an update from Courier dello Sport has shown that Director of Football Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada are “trying to bring” Kinteh to Old Trafford this summer.
The club are reportedly preparing to make the trip directly to Norway to begin the process and follow the young Gambian closely.
Kinteh has caught the attention of United, Chelsea, Ajax and PSV with his playstyle combining “an old-style stopper and a modern playmaker.”
Furthermore, the teenager has a freakishly “rapid” profile, similar to that of Tottenham’s Micky van de Ven, potentially adding some athleticism to United’s backline.

Kinteh to step in for Maguire
Harry Maguire seems to be coming to the end of his contract at United, and whilst he may have played himself into a new contract with consistent performances under Michael Carrick, Kinteh could be a cheap, low-risk alternative to take over.
Maguire has shown his physical dominance since his reintroduction to the squad, keeping the likes of Erling Haaland and Dominic Solanke quiet at Old Trafford.
Kinteh would have some huge boots to fill, but the story of fellow teenager Ayden Heaven has proven that players can step in and shine when needed.
As of now, United keep their focus on Sunday at Old Trafford, where they are set to host Crystal Palace in the hopes of moving into third place ahead of Aston Villa.
