Manchester United transfer target is “keen on joining” Man City despite Rúben Amorim transfer demand

One Manchester United transfer target is now set for a move to Man City as he is said to be “keen on joining the club” despite a demand from Rúben Amorim.

The summer transfer window represents a massive opportunity for Manchester United, as it is the first summer window under Ruben Amorim, meaning players can be bought especially for his 3-4-3 system for the first time.

Amorim’s only signings have been Ayden Heaven and Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu, both have impressed when given the opportunity, showing that more signings chosen by the manager will improve the team.

With United now sitting in 14th, several transfers are needed in the summer, so the only question is where to start?

Manu fans believe that the Red Devils should sign at least one new goalkeeper, with both Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir failing to deliver to expectations.

United have been linked with many goalkeepers amid Amorim demanding the club sign a new goalkeeper this summer, including Porto’s Diogo Costa, but a deal for the Porto goalkeeper now seems unlikely.

Costa “green light” to Man City

Santi Aouna has reported that Costa has “given initial green light to Manchester City” after United sent a scout to watch him just four days ago.

The Portuguese goalkeeper is said to be “keen on joining the club [City]”, despite the interest from Roma and the Red Devils.

Jorge Mendes, agent of Costa, is pushing for Portugal’s no.1 to join the blue side of Manchester, as Costa is set to take over from Ederson in between the Etihad goalposts.

While missing out on Costa will be a blow for United, it does save significant funds for other transfer targets, as Porto would’ve demanded a fee of at least £50 million.

Onana possibly leaving Old Trafford

A few weeks ago, it was reported that United will seriously consider selling Onana after several poor performances, especially since Erik ten Hag left the club.

While Costa won’t be the man replacing him, it seems very possible that Onana could leave in a deal that suits all parties, as the goalkeeper needs less pressure to regain his form and that will never come at Old Trafford.

United’s goalkeeping lineup could see a complete overhaul, with Bayındır looking likely to leave the club after a lack of minutes at the Red Devils.

Tom Heaton is another who will leave the club, with the veteran goalkeeper looking set to retire in the summer once his contract at Old Trafford expires.
