Manchester United are looking to pick a strong side as Erik ten Hag’s team face Luton Town away from home in the Premier League.

2024 has produced almost flawless results so far for Manchester United, with the club winning five of their six games across all competitions, including their last three in the Premier League.

Inconsistent performances have meant that Erik ten Hag‘s men have failed to string together a run of wins, but this new-found confidence can only be boosted should the club defeat Luton Town on Sunday.

The main concern fitness-wise is the status of Luke Shaw, but Ten Hag has positive feelings that the defender will be able to play.

“Yes, so he is doubtful for the weekend, but we are positive he can make it,” Ten Hag told reporters when asked about Shaw’s condition on Thursday.

“So, he fell out [of the game], it was a precaution [to substitute him], and I think it was the right decision, especially when you, afterwards, win the game. But we are working to Sunday.”

Aaron Wan-Bissaka has suffered a setback that has kept him out for around a month, while Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount are yet to return to first-team group training.

“First, Aaron Wan-Bissaka will take some weeks because he picked up another injury in the training last week,” Ten Hag added.

“Mason Mount and Tyrell Malacia will take some more weeks.”

Lisandro Martínez and Anthony Martial remain on the sidelines until the beginning of April.

Hatters manager Rob Edwards has confirmed that United academy graduate Teden Mengi is fit and available to face his former club.

“Teden’s fully fit and available,” said Edwards. “He’s been brilliant for us this year. For a younger player to step up, come away from home, out of his comfort zone, and perform at the highest level, as he has, is astounding.

“I’m not surprised with anything he does, but perhaps I was surprised by how quickly he adapted to his surroundings and his team-mates. Hopefully, he’ll continue that. He has a high ceiling, and I know he will be desperate to play this weekend.”

Marvelous Nakamba is unavailable with a knee problem, with Mads Andersen and Tom Lockyer also injured.
