Manchester United swoop in for transfer hijack, bid made for versatile star
Manchester United have swooped in for a potential transfer hijack, with the club making a bid for one versatile star.
Reliable Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu reported earlier this month that United have met with the representatives of Fenerbahçe fullback Ferdi Kadıoğlu.
The Premier League club has inquired about the contract terms the 24-year-old would require if they can reach an agreement with Fenerbahçe on a transfer fee.
Kadıoğlu primarily featured as a left-back during the 2023/24 season but is proficient in various positions across the field.
Throughout his career, he has played on both wings, at right-back, and in midfield. For the Reds, his versatility would make him invaluable in covering both fullback roles.
Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are both unavailable heading into the 2024/25 campaign and Erik ten Hag would like a new signing in the position.
According to Turkish outlet Sporx, the Reds are now going up against Brighton in the race to sign Kadıoğlu, with both clubs keen to sign a left-back this summer.
Recent reports explain that Brighton have had an offer on the table for the player and that the Turkish side were considering whether to accept it.
The aforementioned report adds that United have tabled a bid for the defender and while the full details of that bid are not revealed, it was stated that they have offered more than their Premier League counterparts upfront.
However, The Seagulls’ offer for the player is worth more overall when you take the add-ons into consideration.
Now, Fenerbahce must decide which offer to move forward with. Club President Ali Koc will be the one to make the decision.
