Former Manchester United striker Michael Owen has highly praised Rasmus Højlund following the latter’s performance against West Ham.

Starting his fifteenth Premier League game of the season, Højlund has been an integral part of Erik ten Hag’s team so far this season.

Hitting a rich vein of form lately, Højlund has scored in five of his last six games for the club. In that time the striker has also managed to pick up two assists.

It was thanks to Højlund that United took the lead against the Hammers on Sunday afternoon, with the Danish international opening the scoring with a goal that Owen was blown away by.

“It’s a beauty that,” Owen told Premier League Productions. “[an] Absolute beauty. I love the disguise with the left foot. He actually prepares it like he is going to shoot.

“It’s already dragging it. But sometimes, you really have to throw the dummy in. Make it look as if you are going to shoot and he did it so well. The touch was great, and Casemiro did play a hand in it.

“But look at that. He has sent two or three people, then it’s a lovely finish. It’s a very good goal that. If he can keep doing that, then he is going to be a hero.”

It’s not just the 2001 Ballon d’Or winner who has been full of praise for Hojlund since the Danish international arrived at Old Trafford.

One of the Dane’s former coaches labelled him as a “mentality monster” in an interview last month.

Hojlund has formed a lethal bond with Alejandro Garnacho of late, with the pair excelling as part of a consistent United front three alongside Marcus Rashford.

That pairing of Hojlund and Garnacho has drawn comparisons from some to the pairing of Hojlund and Ademola Lookman when the Dane was at former club Atalanta.
