Alejandro Garnacho sent former Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria a dig following comments surrounding his goal celebrations.

Alejandro Garnacho has firmly established himself as one of Manchester United‘s first-choice wingers in the last 14 months following fantastic performances under Erik ten Hag.

Starting against West Ham, Garnacho was once again on the scoresheet twice where alongside Rasmus Højlund, United recorded a deserved 3-0 victory over West Ham.

It is no secret that Garnacho is a huge fan of Cristiano Ronaldo, having played alongside the legendary forward at Old Trafford last season, and many of the young winger’s celebrations have been inspired by the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner.

However, Angel Di Maria, speaking to Ole, recently advised Garnacho against copying Ronaldo.

“The only thing I wouldn’t do is celebrate like Cristiano,” he said. “I would score the goal, and I would do like Messi does. I’ll stick with that.”

Garnacho, in an increasingly trademark style, has responded on the pitch by replicating yet another one of Ronaldo’s most iconic celebrations, which can be seen below.

Beyond this, Di Maria did add that he is a big fan of Garnacho: “He is a very fast player, he has incredible ability. He is going to gain it with experience and coming to the national team, it is a place where you learn a lot and continue to improve.

“It helped me a lot to grow technically in every way, it is spectacular. I think he will grow with experience as well. When I was young, I wanted to make the play 30 times in the game.

“Over the years, you realize that if you do it 10, but you do it better, it’s worth it. He has a lot of future, a very big future. It depends on him, on his head, to be able to handle it. I don’t have much to say, there’s a reason he’s playing for Manchester United.”
