Manchester United starlet continues excellent form with brace, Jason Wilcox is watching closely
One Manchester United starlet has continued his excellent form this weekend with a brace as Jason Wilcox watches his progress closely.
While Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad won their Premier League clash against Southampton on Saturday, the young Reds were also enjoying their football.
Adam Lawrence’s under-18s side won the Treble last season but have started the new campaign with the same hunger and intensity despite many regulars from last year moving onto the under-21s.
After winning their opening two league games against Manchester City and Liverpool, the young United team won convincingly against Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.
United won the game 5-1. Gabriele Biancheri scored two goals, and James Scanlon, Amir Ibragimov, and Jim Thwaites also found the net.
Biancheri continues excellent Man Utd form vs Newcastle
Biancheri’s brace should come as no surprise to those who have been paying attention to the Academy system at Carrington.
The Welsh striker has now scored seven goals so far this season in just five games and looks set to have a standout campaign in the youth system.
He scored 12 goals and registered three assists in the league last term. He started just 12 games for the Under-18s in the league but is now leading the line.
Not many other talents within the academy possess his ability to find space inside the box. He is a little bit of a throwback forward and can take advantage of the chances that United’s under-18s side will inevitably create.
Jason Wilcox keeping close eye on Biancheri
According to a report from MailSport, United’s new technical director, Jason Wilcox, has been closely monitoring Biancheri’s progress.
Wilcox attended a match at the end of last season where Biancheri netted two goals against Everton U18s and has taken a keen interest in the young striker.
Before joining United, Wilcox served as academy director at Manchester City, where he played a key role in developing stars like Oscar Bobb, Phil Foden, and Cole Palmer. With that experience, he knows how to identify youth talent capable of reaching the top level.
Biancheri has impressed both in matches and training sessions, with the report stating that coaches and scouts are “salivating” over his potential. Like many young talents at Carrington, the Welsh forward has occasionally trained with Erik ten Hag’s first-team squad.
Following a strong start to the season, Biancheri will be eager to continue making his mark throughout the campaign.
