One Manchester United star has received a major international boost ahead of Euro 2024 later this month.

There will be many United players heading off to international duty following the FA Cup glory last month.

Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo have been included in England’s provisional squad for the upcoming European Championship.

However, Shaw has been injured for several months and is not yet fully fit. Gareth Southgate admitted that it would be unlikely that he made the final squad when he announced it last week.

“He’s up against it. He’s missed a lot of football. The fact he’s been our first choice means we are giving him a bit longer than we might have done,” the Three Lions boss told reporters.

Shaw turned up at St George’s Park earlier than the rest of the England squad in an attempt to prove himself to Southgate ahead of the tournament.

It has appeared to pay off, with the England manager now suggesting that the left-back has a ‘good chance’ of making the plane to Germany.

“He’s progressing very well, I have to say,” Southgate told reporters ahead of England’s warm-up game against Bosnia & Herzegovina.

“I think I said last week that until we had the players in front of us working with us, there was a lot of information that we didn’t have.

“We’re pleased with how he’s progressing. There’s still a bit to do before he can get on the pitch in a game situation.

“But really pleased with the work he’s doing with our physical performance team and our medics, so, yeah, he’s in with a good chance.”

Shaw has been a crucial player in recent tournaments for the nation. He scored in the Euro 2020 final against Italy before England were eventually defeated on penalties.
