One of Manchester United’s stars has flown to ‘hold meetings’ with three clubs as a permanent exit from Old Trafford nears.
During the summer transfer window, Manchester United set their focus on improving their attacking department, after a very poor season in front of goal.
This saw Ruben Amorim recruit an entirely new front three to try and put their goalscoring woes behind them, amassing a cost in the region of £200 million.
During the early stages of the new Premier League season, United’s new trio have impressed with eight goals between them, which is already more than both Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee combined for last season.
These new faces saw many United forwards head in the other direction, with one of these being Jadon Sancho, who is facing a potential permanent exit from the Reds in the summer.
Sancho holds meetings for exit
Over the course of the international break, Sancho flew to Turkey to hold ‘discreet but meaningful discussions’ with the representatives of three Turkish giants, according to English reports.
Seeking a fresh start after such a difficult spell in Manchester, Sancho held meetings with Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, and Besiktas to discuss a potential move.
The English winger is currently on loan at Aston Villa, although he has not scored or assisted in all eight of his appearances so far this season, making a permanent move to the Villains unlikely.
Sancho’s financial expectations are reported to fall within the £7-8 million salary range, which will be a slight decrease from his current £8.8 million per-season that he earns in Manchester.
Sancho joining successful clear-out
With a potential exit looking increasingly likely for Sancho, this will help to cut down the wage bill that has been a thorn in United’s side since the exit of Sir Alex Ferguson.
During the summer, United parted ways with several attackers, which helped to strengthen their wage bill. Exits for both Sancho and Marcus Rashford in the summer will strengthen this further.
This could allow for United to continue their recent run of successful recruitment, as they make their bid to return to the top end of the Premier League table.
Although, unfortunately, Sancho’s move to Old Trafford never worked out, a fresh start in a new country may be just what both parties need to move on from what has been a turbulent period.
