Manchester United have reportedly set a new price tag for Rasmus Højlund as they consider selling him in the summer transfer window.

Rasmus Højlund has endured a tough season at Manchester United, with fans growing frustrated over his struggles.

United sit 13th in the Premier League, managing just 28 goals in 24 games, with only two coming from their £72 million striker.

Though the Dane has shown promise in European competition and during a spell after Christmas in 2023, his inconsistency remains a concern.

The 22-year-old is no longer considered to be untouchable in the transfer market and the Reds may consider offers for him in the summer window.

Højlund price tag set as West Ham interested

According to a new report from TeamTALK, the Old Trafford outfit are considering parting ways with the Danish striker in the summer.

It was explained that Ruben Amorim is not convinced by the forward amid reports that United will be aiming to sign a big-money striker in the summer.

Of course, it was less than two years ago when United paid over £70 million to secure the signing of Højlund from Atalanta.

But the report adds that United accept that they won’t be able to recoup that fee in the summer and instead have set a price tag at around £40 million for his services.

West Ham are one team in the Premier League who would consider a summer move for Højlund if they do not end up signing Evan Ferguson on a permanent deal.

It was explained that Højlund has admirers at the London-based Premier League club.

Højlund has some time to prove himself to Amorim

In an ideal world, Højlund remains at United and fulfils his obvious potential at Old Trafford because we have all seen that he has some important attributes for a striker.

It is also difficult to remember many top strikers who have lit up the Premier League at his age. You would ideally want him to stay as a backup to a more experienced no.9.

However, United are also not blessed with a perfect financial situation and you could understand the club selling him for a good offer if they have an ideal replacement in mind.

Chido Obi Martin is also coming through the Academy and looking like he could be a potential first-team option.

Højlund does still has half a season to prove that he is good enough to be part of Amorim’s project and hopefully he can show improved form.
