Manchester United register interest in new midfield target, club’s position “is clear”
Manchester United have registered interest in a new midfield target this summer, and the club’s position on a deal “is clear”
The Reds are about to make their third and fourth signings of the summer when Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui complete their moves.
Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee joined earlier in the transfer window, but Erik ten Hag’s side still needs one major addition.
The club is considering adding another midfielder to boost the depth in the engine room, with Manuel Ugarte being the priority target.
However, the PSG midfielder’s £51 million price tag is a major sticking point in any deal, so United are looking elsewhere.
According to Sky Sports, Richard Rios of Palmeiras is a player of interest to United this summer.
However, it was added that his potential price tag could be a sticking point in any potential deal.

This is because the Brazilian club are not looking to sell one of their star players during their campaign. Their season ends in December, which could possibly open up a January transfer move.
As per GOAL, a source said: “What is certain is that the club will not negotiate with Ríos in this window.
“It is normal for interested parties to appear, but the club’s position on the matter is clear.”
UtdDistrict understands that Manchester United intends to secure a new midfielder before the transfer window closes, regardless of whether any additional players are sold before the deadline.
Ideally, the club want to sign two midfielders by the end of August, though bringing in a second player will depend on player departures.
It is understood that the club have also engaged in discussions with AS Monaco regarding French international Youssouf Fofana and is exploring the possibility of a transfer.
