Manchester United receive major Michael Olise transfer update
Manchester United have received a major update on Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise ahead of the summer transfer market.
The Reds were victim to Olise’s talent on Monday night when he scored a brace against them during Crystal Palace’s 4-0 win over Erik ten Hag’s side.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with an Old Trafford move in recent months, with INEOS reportedly listing him as their no.1 choice for the right-wing position.
However, there has always been reported competition for the former Reading star and now a new update spells bad news for United.
Villa confident of snatching Olise
According to a new report from Football Transfers, Aston Villa are confident they can secure the signing of Olise ahead of the competition of United and Arsenal.
The report added that Olise wants to join a Champions League team next season and secure a spot as a regular starter, prioritising playing time over sitting on the bench.
In turn, it says that these ambitions have made the Old Trafford club’s chances of landing the winger very unlikely.
The uncertainty over the managerial situation at the club also counts against them, the report continued, particularly as Unai Emery has recently signed a new contract with Villa.
Finally, it was added that sources at Villa Park state that sporting director Monchi is confident in persuading the player to choose Villa over the competition.
United could pay for not securing UCL football
While there could still be a chance that United convince Olise of an Old Trafford move, it’s undeniable that finishing outside of the top four – and potentially not in European spots at all – will impact their ability to sign players.
With the likes of Aston Villa presenting an impressive project with a good manager and Champions League football, it is understandable that INEOS will have to do some major convincing.
