After a frustrating Europa League final loss, it has been reported that Manchester United are now open to the £45 million sale of Rasmus Højlund.
A 1-0 loss to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final epitomised what has been a catastrophic campaign for Manchester United.
The goal threat and desire of Ruben Amorim’s side has been questioned throughout his tenure, as the Red Devil’s finish the season with no trophies, whilst they stare at the reality of a bottom five finish in the Premier League.
Totalling a record low of 42 goals in 37 league games, a major shake-up for United’s attacking department is certainly on the cards, which will see a fair few familiar faces heading for the exit.
Uncertainty already surrounds the futures of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Jadon Sancho, but Rasmus Højlund is the newest forward who could be set for a summer move.
Højlund sale to fetch £45m
After back-to-back lacklustre campaigns at Old Trafford, this summer could see the Danish international seek new pastures, with a return to Italy potentially being an option.
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, United are open to letting Hojlund depart, and will ‘happily cash in between £42m and £46m’ for his sale.
Juventus have been the main club linked with the signature of United’s underperforming forward according to the report, as they believe the Dane would be a ‘sensible target because of his relatively low wage demands’.
The Old Lady would receive a hefty Champions League bonus from their ownership if they qualified for the competition, which could see them move for a more expensive option, such as Victor Osimhen.
Fabrizio Romano has also confirmed previously that Inter Milan and Napoli are also keen on striking a deal for the 22-year-old this summer, giving way for a three-way transfer battle emerging out of Italy.
Who could replace Højlund this summer?
After scoring only 14 goals in 62 Premier League games, with only four coming this season, Hojlund’s departure could be in United’s best interests.

The question then becomes: Who replaces him? With no European football for the next campaign, attracting top attacking targets has become increasingly difficult for Amorim’s side.
The signature of Matheus Cunha is hopefully on the horizon for the Red’s, but then after that it becomes a mystery as to who United will be able to obtain in the summer.
They have previously been linked with frontmen such as Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres, but it will be interesting to see what United’s higher-ups can achieve in the coming months.
