Manchester United are privately negotiating a long-awaited transfer after being offered two alternative options to Benjamin Sesko.
Manchester United have had a productive pre-season tour but are still expected to be busy in the final weeks of the summer transfer market.
Following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Diego Leon, the club has now turned its focus to securing a natural No. 9.
Although Bruno Fernandes ended last season as United’s top scorer with 19 goals in all competitions, only three other players managed to reach double figures. This highlights the urgent need for a reliable and consistent goal-scorer.
Ruben Amorim has identified signing a central striker as a top priority ahead of the new campaign, with Benjamin Sesko emerging as the leading target.
The 22-year-old Slovenian forward, who netted 21 goals in all competitions for RB Leipzig during the 2024/25 season, has long been on United’s radar.
United offered two Sesko alternatives
While Sesko is clearly the preferred target at Old Trafford, Newcastle are also very interested in the striker and have committed £70 million in a bid to RB Leipzig.
United are waiting for the player’s final decision on where he wants to join before making their own bid, but even if he chooses them, the Reds will not want to offer more than £70 million.
Instead, they might end up looking elsewhere and United have already been offered two potential strikers in recent days.
It was revealed earlier this week that Dusan Vlahovic had been offered to United, but the club swiftly rejected the chance to sign the Juventus striker.
Now, talkSPORT have added that Nicolas Jackson has been offered to United again, with Chelsea valuing the forward at £80 million. They are open to allowing him to leave on loan, as long as an obligation to buy is included in the deal.
United have genuine interest in Jackson but would not entertain a deal anywhere near that price, although, it is clear that alternative options to Sesko are being considered.
United privately negotiating long-awaited transfer
Meanwhile, in terms of player exits, you would imagine that United’s unwanted stars will want to make progress on moves soon with competitive football fast approaching.
Alejandro Garnacho was linked with a Chelsea move in January and it has simply seemed like a matter of time before that heats up again this summer.
The Blues are interested in the Argentine winger and reports from The Athletic have revealed that they have been in informal talks with United over the player.
These private negotiations will likely become more advanced as the summer window moves closer to its conclusion, with both clubs having different valuations of Garnacho.
It remains to be seen whether United will stick to their price tag and run the risk of keeping Garnacho at the club, or lower that valuation and facilitate his exit.
