After securing Champions League football with a 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday night, Erik ten Hag may be keen to rest some of his key players for the visit of Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

A long Premier League season finally comes to an end this weekend and with Champions League football already secured for next season, there is little riding on the game against Fulham.

Manchester United currently sit third after leapfrogging Newcastle United on Thursday and whilst Ten Hag has hinted towards the importance of finishing the season strong and as high as possible, next week’s FA Cup final will surely have an impact on his team selection.

Two of the Ten Hag’s key summer signings look certain to miss the final. Lisandro Martinez has already been ruled out of the fixture whilst Antony fell to injury during United’s latest win against Chelsea.

Both players have been crucial to the side in their maiden season at the club and their absence will be felt next Saturday. The United boss will be keen not to compound that by overplaying any of his key players, especially with the short turnaround from Thursday to Sunday.

This season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner, David De Gea is expected to keep his place in goal but there could be widespread changes elsewhere.

Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof are expected to be the centre-back pairing for the FA Cup final next week but due to injuries, one may have to start against Fulham. Harry Maguire will be the partner for either of those in what could be his final appearance in a Manchester United shirt. Tyrell Malacia should come in for Luke Shaw who was substituted at half-time against Chelsea with a minor injury. Diogo Dalot will make up the back four.

Casemiro is likely to sit this one out and many supporters will agree, he should be wrapped in cotton wool until next weekend’s Manchester Derby. The ever-present Bruno Fernandes will add some familiarity to the midfield alongside Scott McTominay and Fred.

Alejandro Garnacho could be in line to make his first start since returning from injury. As could Marcus Rashford who will be keen to get some more minutes in the tank. With Antony out injured, Wout Weghorst could be another who makes his final appearance for The Reds.

Full predicted XI

De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Maguire, Malacia; McTominay, Fred, Fernandes; Rashford, Weghorst, Garnacho.
