Manchester United could make brilliant £30m move, with obvious swap deal on the cards
Manchester United could make a brilliant £30 million move this summer, with an obvious swap deal on the cards for the club.
United have made two signings so far this summer but are keen to make further additions to Erik ten Hag’s squad before the end of the window.
According to reliable Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, the Reds have initiated discussions with the representatives of Fenerbahçe’s fullback, Ferdi Kadıoğlu.
The Premier League club has inquired about the 24-year-old’s contract demands, should they reach an agreement with Fenerbahçe on a transfer fee. According to prior reports, the Süper Lig club are demanding around £30 million.
While United’s budget is not stretching far due to the £88 million spent on Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro so far this summer, they could consider involving Victor Lindelöf in a potential deal, considering Fenerbahçe have already been linked to the Swede.
Jose Mourinho would reportedly be keen to be reunited with his former defender, and the 30-year-old could be used as makeweight in a deal.
Kadıoğlu spent most of the 2023/24 season playing at left-back, but his versatility extends across multiple positions.
Throughout his career, the Turkish player has featured on both wings, at right-back, and in midfield. This adaptability would make him a valuable asset for Liverpool, providing cover in both fullback positions.
Signing Kadıoğlu at the right price would be an excellent move for the club, addressing potential issues in the fullback areas and offering additional depth in various roles on the pitch.
It would also potentially allow United to sell an unwanted player who is unlikely to play a role in the coming season.
Matthijs de Ligt would need to be signed, however, with Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, Jonny Evans and Yoro needing that extra support at the centre of defence.
