Why Victor Lindelof is absent from Manchester United squad to face Arsenal
Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelöf is not in Erik ten Hag’s matchday squad to face Arsenal in Los Angeles this evening
Lindelöf, 30, returned to the squad at the beginning of pre-season after a summer break but has not played in either pre-season game so far.
Leny Yoro, 18, signed for United last Thursday and immediately played against Rangers on the Saturday after just one training session.
The young centre-back was excellent in his 45-minute cameo, and many fans are excited to see him back in action against Premier League opposition.
He is not expected to be the only centre-back signing this summer, with Matthijs de Ligt also heavily linked, and so reports linking Lindelöf away from the club have emerged.
The Swede has now missed the third pre-season fixture and it has been reported that the defender is injured. He also missed Friday’s training session.
The Telegraph also suggested earlier on Sunday afternoon that United may be taking precautions with the defender’s fitness amid the prospect of the player being sold this summer.
Lindelöf has been linked to Fenerbahçe and other clubs, with United keen to part ways after six years at the club.
The Reds face up against Real Betis and Liverpool in their remaining United States fixtures before they return to England to face Manchester City in the Community Shield.
Harry Amass and Toby Collyer are both starting for Ten Hag’s side and looking to impress the manager further.
The game kicks off at 01:00 BST, and the full coverage can be viewed on the UtdDistrict X account.
