Manchester United’s new Chido Obi-Martin plan revealed after training video leaked
Manchester United’s new plan for Chido Obi-Martin has been revealed after a training video was leaked this week.
Chido Obi Martin, a highly promising 16-year-old attacking talent, joined United from Arsenal’s academy last month.
At just 15, he made his debut for Arsenal’s Under-21 side and was even called up to train with Mikel Arteta’s first team during the 2023/24 season.
Obi Martin showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting 10 goals for the Under-16s in a match against Liverpool and scoring 32 goals in the U18 Premier League last season.
United’s plan for Chido Obi-Martin
According to a new report from the Manchester Evening News, the club will be patient with Obi-Martin following his arrival from Arsenal.
Despite agreeing a deal to sign the player earlier in the summer, the Danish striker could not join United until the end of September.
Obi-Martin was training without a club until the Premier League ratification process for his move was complete. He uploaded videos on his social media platforms of him doing drills with a private coach.
However, the aforementioned report added that a source admits the 16-year-old is essentially having to have a pre-season now he has officially signed for United.
This likely means that fans will have to wait before he is thrown into games for the Academy teams. He has trained at Carrington for several weeks now but will not be rushed into match action.
Sekou Kone is going through a similar introduction to life at United after he missed out on a pre-season due to the complexity of a move from Mali to Manchester in the summer.
Obi-Martin’s impressive training clips leaked
Despite not being likely to participate in games in the near future, Obi-Martin’s talents in front of goal have been shared for fans to see on social media.
It is unusual for training clips to be leaked on social media, particularly for the youth team players, but videos emerged this week of Obi-Martin on the grass at Carrington with his new youth teammates.
The clips showed the 16-year-old looking sharp in his new environment, with some good finishes in a video just under a minute long.
Fans will be hoping to see those actions recreated in match situations as soon as possible, with much hype surrounding the teenage talent.
