Manchester United must overcome three hurdles before they can sign Sofyan Amrabat
Manchester United are said to be targeting Sofyan Amrabat for their next midfield signing, however, they must overcome three obstacles in order to complete the deal.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mason Mount became the latest addition to the Manchester United squad as Erik ten Hag continues his quest to improve his squad this summer.
With Mount through the door, Inter Milan’s André Onana is expected to follow shortly, as United have agreed on terms for his signing with both Inter and the player himself.
Sofyan Amrabat has been a player on Ten Hag’s radar for some time, with the Morrocan performing admirably during the 2022 World Cup.
He has been a consistent and dependable midfielder for Serie A club Fiorentina, which are two traits that Ten Hag admires – however, the club must overcome three obstacles before a deal for the midfielder can be sanctioned.
According to Jacque Talbot, United must sort out two more incomings and sell a player before Amrabat can join the club.
The first is Onana’s signature, which should be completed by the end of next week. The second is the club must complete a deal for Atalanta striker Rasmus Højlund; and although United are confident that a deal can be reached, a fee is yet to be finalised.
Thirdly, it is said that United must sell Fred. Fred has attracted much interest from Premier League side Fulham, and United are confident that they will be able to fetch a fee north of £15 million for the player.
As United are working on a restricted budget, the signings of Mount, Onana, and Højlund have stretched the club thin this summer – they must sell before they can buy.
