Three Premier League clubs have joined Manchester United in pursuit of top summer transfer target as Ruben Amorim prepares for an attacking rebuild in his first summer transfer window.
Manchester United are keen to bolster their attacking options this summer, aiming to resolve their ongoing issues in front of goal.
The club has been linked with a number of strikers, including Liam Delap, Victor Osimhen, and Benjamin Šeško. At the same time, United are also prioritising the addition of players for their wide positions, with a deal for Matheus Cunha reportedly nearing completion.
Under Rúben Amorim’s tactical system, the team utilises a central striker flanked by two wide attacking midfielders. With Alejandro Garnacho’s form wavering and Christian Eriksen expected to depart, reinforcements are deemed necessary.
The club is targeting versatile forwards capable of playing across the wings and adding creativity to the attack, with Bruno Fernandes currently shouldering much of that responsibility.
United showing interest in Lyon’s Cherki
Olympique Lyonnais forward Rayan Cherki has also emerged as a potential option for United in one of the two attacking midfield roles this summer.
The French winger caught the attention of United fans during their Europa League quarter-final clash, and those within the club were also impressed by the 21-year-old’s displays across both fixtures, loving the way he was able to command the pitch and his side despite his young age.
While United completed a thrilling comeback win in the dying moments of the second leg against Lyon, Cherki was instrumental, scoring in both legs – first with an equaliser in the dying minutes of the first leg and then what many believed to be the winning goal at Old Trafford.
This season, the French U21 international has notched a stunning 12 goals and 19 assists across 43 appearances, leading to many of Europe’s top clubs tracking the player.
Three Premier League clubs join United’s pursuit of Cherki
While there is some interest from Germany, the most significant attention for Rayan Cherki comes from England.
According to Le Parisien, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham Hotspur have all shown interest in the French forward.

What makes the move even more appealing is his relatively low price. When Cherki chose to extend his contract with Olympique Lyonnais last summer, it was agreed that he could leave this summer for around £19 million, which is even lower than the £25 million release clause in his contract.
It is detailed that Lyon must honour that agreement, or else they could face further penalties. Given the club’s well-documented financial struggles, failing to meet this condition is not an option for them.
With the Premier League trio having now all enquired about Cherki, United must act fast if they are to secure the Frenchman this summer.
