Manchester United have made their feelings clear on signing Victor Osimhen this summer after his potential move to Al-Hilal has broken down.
After securing the signing of Matheus Cunha earlier this week, Manchester United have already moved on to try and sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
However, even with those two additions, the Reds are still in desperate need of an out-and-out centre forward who can guarantee goals for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Liam Delap was the first-choice at Old Trafford but he opted to move to Chelsea instead, while other strikers across Europe have also been linked with the move.
Victor Osimhen was many people’s favoured option but the links with the Nigerian forward had died down after a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal seemed inevitable.
United not planning Osimhen move
It was revealed on Thursday evening that Osimhen’s move to Al-Hilal is on the verge of collapsing and that Galatasaray have come in to try and snatch a deal.
Osimhen spent the last season on loan at the Turkish giants and became a fan-favourite as his goals led them to winning the Super Lig title.
The collapse of the striker’s move to Saudi Arabia led to United fans wondering if the club would try and make an effort to sign him in the coming days.
However, a fresh report from ESPN has clarified that, despite his availability, United will not be pursuing a move for Osimhen this summer.
It was claimed that those at Old Trafford believe the 26-year-old is not the profile of striker required by Amorim, while his high transfer fee and wages would also cause an issue.
Reports have suggested that Galatasaray are offering the player over £300,000-a-week, which would put him close to the highest-earner – Casemiro – in United’s squad.
Should United have gone for Osimhen?
Osimhen is clearly a very, very good striker but there also seems to be a circus around him at the moment. After so much drama last summer, it continues into this window after this Saudi saga.
Whether or not it is the influence of his representatives, United do not really need that kind of problem to come to Old Trafford, even if the player is of the highest level.
Some would say that you bite the bullet for players who are that good and United perhaps would if the deal was affordable, but his huge wage demands are also another stumbling block.

On the other hand, with Cunha and likely Mbeumo playing in those no.10 positions, United are not in as much need for a striker to try and solve all of their problems.
Getting in a no.9 who can simply link play and get on the end of a few chances in the box would be a big upgrade for the club anyway, and hopefully the goals will be shared across several dangerous attackers next term.
