Manchester United have come to a decision on the short-term future of Facundo Pellistri after meeting with his agents this week.

It was reported by several outlets that, after his eventual first-team debut against Charlton Athletic, Pellistri could potentially head on loan this month for more first-team minutes.

The United winger was denied a summer loan deal through injury and has been in and out of Erik ten Hag’s first-team squads over the last months.

However, after he made positive impressions on Tuesday by assisting Marcus Rashford’s first goal, Pellistri is set to remain at the club for the rest of the season.

César Luis Merlo has reported that United’s meeting with Pellistri’s agent led to the club letting him know that the intention is for him to stay at Old Trafford.

Whilst there will be another meeting next week, it is difficult to imagine anything changes.

Pellistri is currently United’s only natural right-wing alternative to Antony. Jadon Sancho is yet to return to the squad and Anthony Elanga is less impactful when played on the right.

With United being the only English club left fighting for four different competitions, depth will be important as the season goes on.

Speaking after his debut earlier this week, Pellistri was delighted to finally get his chance.

“Amazing. I have waited for this moment for a long time, and it came,” he told MUTV. “Of course, I am really happy because of the moment and that is incredible.

“I had the luck to be at Old Trafford in other squads but unluckily I didn’t enter the pitch to play. I looked at the crowd and all the time I thought ‘when will my moment arrive to play?’ And today was the day and I enjoyed it a lot.

“I am very happy, and I want to help my team-mates to achieve all the trophies that we have in mind and to win every game we have because this is an incredible club and very big.”
