Manchester United sunk Charlton Athletic 3-0 as Erik ten Hag’s men progress to the EFL Cup semi-finals.

The victory saw Antony score his fifth goal of the season with a lovely curling effort to open the scoring 20 minutes in, with Erik ten Hag impressed with the Manchester United winger’s effort.

“It was a brilliant goal,” Ten Hag told Sky Sports after the match. “It was a team goal, but the finishing from Antony dos Santos, it was great.”

With a lot of the fixture played with an intense manner, it was only when Facundo Pellistri was introduced for his competitive debut for the club that United killed the game off, thanks to two late goals from Marcus Rashford.

“I think Pellistri came in, he was lively, had a good assist with Rashford’s finishing,” detailed Ten Hag.

He further went on to comment on the winger, saying he is happy with his progress and will wait to see more of the player.

“I see a future in him,” said Ten Hag. “You see he’s progressing. Against Everton (behind closed doors in training) I was happy with his performance, I was happy with him in the World Cup. Well done, better, keep going.”

On the team’s overall performance, the Dutch manager told Sky Sports he was “quite happy with the display. “I think we started very well, it was good energy, good focus, we pinned them in their half, we created chances.”
