Manchester United are preparing for their biggest test yet this season, with Erik ten Hag’s men taking on Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

With Manchester United on an eight-match win streak at Old Trafford and Manchester City recently suffering Carabao Cup defeat against Southampton, this could be the most even the two sides have been in a long, long time.

Erik ten Hag‘s men recently progressed to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, with Pep Guardiola’s men falling at the same hurdle, and should United defeat City on Saturday, the two sides will be separated by just one point in the table.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Erik ten Hag confirmed the injury updates of two key players: Anthony Martial and Diogo Dalot.

“Diogo Dalot is not available and Anthony Martial trained this morning, so we have to wait how he recovered from his training and that will be decided tomorrow,” confirmed Ten Hag on Friday afternoon.

Dalot had to be substituted in the first half against Charlton Athletic on Tuesday evening, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka taking his place for the remainder of the fixture.

Wan-Bissaka has been on great form of late, starting majority of United’s fixtures since the return of domestic football, and has impressed both Ten Hag and fans alike.

“Aaron has done very well in the last few games both defensively and offensively,” said Ten Hag earlier in January. “Good competition in the group, but there are a lot of games so we need them.”
