Manchester United make their stance on Cristiano Ronaldo’s future clear as his move to Saudi Arabia raises questions about a potential transfer.
Manchester United have finally found a run of consistent form as Michael Carrick leads the reds on their hunt for Champions League football.
With no other competitions to focus on, the former Middlesborough manager has been able to give his full attention to United’s form in the Premier League to find consistent results, and fans will be pleased to see that it is working.
United are currently with three wins out of three under Carrick, getting the better of Manchester City, Arsenal and Fulham, with the latest fixture seeing Benjamin Šeško’s injury time winner to secure the three points in a 3-2 victory against Marco Silva’s Fulham.
However, with the news across Europe that Manchester United icon, Cristiano Ronaldo, may be looking to make a move away from Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr, Man United have made their decision on a potential third stint at the club for the Portuguese forward.
United steering clear of Ronaldo reunion
Man United saw major changes to their attacking line with the start of the 2025/26 season as Ineos spent heavily bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko to secure efficiency in front of goal.
Carrick has done a superb job at bringing the best of them out as all three new forwards are in United’s top five goalscorer in the top flight this season, with Mbeumo out in front with eight goals.
As TEAMTalk reports, United have “no plans: to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Theatre of Dreams.
Ronaldo, who celebrates his 41st birthday on Thursday, was rumoured to be looking at a return to Man United amid reports from the Spanish press, but senior figures at United have made it clear that the possibility for another stint at the club for Ronaldo is not on the table.
With Mbeumo currently being United’s starting striker and Šeško in brilliant form under Carrick, a move for Ronaldo would not make sense for either party, even with the reports that Ronaldo is willing to “take a salary sacrifice” to come back to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s second United stint ended poorly
The summer of 2021 was a monumental time for Manchester United fans as Ronaldo made his return to Manchester United joining fellow summer signings, Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made a statement of intent.
Whilst Ronaldo did secure 24 goals in his returning season, including an iconic brace against Newcastle on his second debut, it ended sourly for the all time Champions League top goalscorer.
