Manchester United are looking to make several more summer signings before the end of the transfer window.

The Reds have already signed Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee to address two key areas of the team – centre-back and striker.

Yet, Erik ten Hag’s team suffered a double blow when Yoro and Rasmus Højlund both suffered injuries against Arsenal on the weekend.

They will be unavailable for three months and six weeks, respectively, which has seemed to create problems in both positions once again.

Following the injury news, reports have stated that United could advance their search for another centre-back, with Matthijs de Ligt the likely target.

It has also been mentioned that Ten Hag wants to sign an additional striker, with Ivan Toney of Brentford being one potential option.

Yet, with all of this transfer talk, some fans have become concerned about the lack of movement for central midfield signings.

The engine room was the biggest issue in Ten Hag’s team last season and it’s clear that a partner for Kobbie Mainoo is needed, and then even perhaps further depth.

United have ignored the midfield position in transfer windows before, perhaps most memorably in the 2021 summer window when Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphaël Varane and Jadon Sancho signed – but no midfielders came in, despite it being the clear priority position at the end of the previous season.

Thankfully, a new report from Lequipe has explained that PSG are now willing to accept a paid loan offer for United target Manuel Ugarte, with a ‘lucrative’ buy option included.

This could be the ideal deal for United, who were unwilling to match the French club’s extreme price tag for the midfielder. The loan could also allow the club to focus funds elsewhere – perhaps on another midfielder.
