Manchester United legend Andy Cole names the ‘perfect’ signing for Rúben Amorim before deadline day

Manchester United legend, Andy Cole, has named the man he believes would be “perfect” for Rúben Amorim’s side.

There is just over one week remaining in the transfer window, and Manchester United need to act quickly to complete deals that they wanted done months ago.

The “Bomb Squad” – a group of five players that were Rúben Amorim deemed weren’t right for his side – all remain contracted to the club, with only Marcus Rashford moving on loan to Barcelona.

Along with Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho, the other four members of the “Bomb Squad”, Rasmus Hojlund also looks set to leave the club. Jason Wilcox is in for a very busy 10 days.

There is the possibility that United still look to bring in more players as well, even after the Carlos Baleba deal broke down. The Red Devils have been searching for midfielders, central defenders and goalkeepers this summer.

A replacement for Andre Onana in between the sticks is the most likely new addition before the end of the window, with Altay Bayindir chosen ahead of him for the first Premier League match against Arsenal.

Cole says Donnarumma would be perfect signing

Gianluigi Donnarumma looks set to leave Paris Saint-Germain after the French club bought Lucas Chevalier from LOSC Lille as their new starting shotstopper, and United have been linked to the Italian.

However, interest in the former AC Milan goalkeeper has been down played in recent weeks, with Manchester City seeming the most likely to sign Donnarumma, despite signing James Trafford earlier in the summer.

In an interview with Esports Insider, former United striker Andy Cole had his say on Donnarumma and the United goalkeeper situation: “Donnarumma is a top goalkeeper and I’m very surprised that he’s in the position he’s ended up in at PSG.

“His performances have been unbelievable and I’d love to see him at Manchester United, of course I would. If United do get back in the Champions League then maybe they could tempt him.

“He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world. He’d be perfect for United,” said the legendary strike partner of Dwight Yorke.

Onana needs a good performance against Fulham

Earlier in the week, it was reported that Onana would be back in goal for United’s trip to Craven Cottage this weekend, replacing Bayindir after his mistake that led to the Arsenal goal.

Despite his troubles from set-pieces, Bayindir played well against Mikel Arteta’s side, showing he understood Amorim’s build-up system completely.

If Onana fails to be as impressive as Bayindir with his feet, many will be unhappy that he returned to the lineup and call for the club to sign a new goalkeeper, as most fans have all summer.

It now seems unlikely that United will sign a shotstopper this summer, and they may wait for Radek Vitek to return from his loan spell with Bristol City next summer, as he has already shown his abilites in the Championship.
