Manchester United have learnt the asking price of a potential target as the club look to strengthen their midfield this summer.
The midfield will be Manchester United’s priority going into the upcoming summer transfer window.
It has already been confirmed that Casemiro will leave the club at the end of the season upon the expiry of his contract. It’s also feasible that Manuel Ugarte could depart following a dire 18 months at Old Trafford.
United made an attempt to bring Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Carlos Baleba to the club last summer, but the Reds were forced to end their pursuit of the Cameroonian midfielder after the Seagulls made it clear he was not for sale.
United still hold an interest in Baleba, but he has endured a difficult season, struggling to find consistency. United are therefore considering their options with Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson said to be their top target. Local rivals Manchester City will rival United for Anderson’s signature however, and early noises point towards the Englishman preferring a move to the blue side of Manchester.
Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali is also on United’s shortlist, but the Magpies are said to want a fee in the region of £100 million for the Italian midfielder.
United learn asking price for Nmecha
With Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali both being difficult to attain for a variety of reasons, the club may be forced to look elsewhere in their bid to take the quality of their midfield to the next level.
Borussia Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha could be a good alternative, with Dortmund reportedly prepared to part ways with the German international.
According to Sport Bild, Dortmund are open to a sale, and have set an asking price of around £60 million for Nmecha.
Nmecha has also changed agents, a move which could point towards his potential desire to take the next step in his career this summer after three seasons at Signal Idurna Park.

United need to go all out for Anderson
Felix Nmecha is an outstanding player who has qualities United will need to add to the squad with Casemiro set to leave, but Elliot Anderson is the best option on the market and United need to go all out for him.

While it will not be a straightforward deal due to competition from Manchester City and Nottingham Forest likely to demand a significant fee, United need to do everything possible to get that deal over the line.
Anderson offers exceptional qualities, both on and off the ball. He is combative, strong in duels, both on the ground and in the air. On the ball, he is comfortable under pressure and has an impressive passing range.
United might need to sign two midfielders this summer, so even if Anderson arrives, a deal for Nmecha could still be plausible.
