Manchester United learn about hidden Antoine Semenyo transfer detail, it could help summer move

Manchester United have learnt about a new transfer detail relating to Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo which could aid a potential summer move.

Manchester United are aiming to strengthen Ruben Amorim’s attacking options this summer amid the team’s ongoing struggles in front of goal.

While strikers like Liam Delap and Victor Osimhen have been linked with a move to Old Trafford, the club are also looking to add quality in behind the striker.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system relies on a single striker flanked by two wide attacking midfielders. With Alejandro Garnacho experiencing a dip in form and Christian Eriksen expected to depart, United see the addition of versatile wide forwards as a key priority.

They are targeting players capable of operating on both wings and contributing creatively—responsibilities that have weighed heavily on Bruno Fernandes ever since his 2020 arrival.

United interested in Semenyo deal

One of the players United are considering ahead of the summer window is Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo, who is having an excellent season in the Premier League.

The winger has 10 goals and six assists in all competitions which has caught the eye of United boss Amorim – the Portuguese coach is said to be “very fond” of the 25-year-old.

Reports from Sky Sports this week further stated that Amorim is a big admirer of Semenyo and has plans of how to use him in a new-look United frontline next term.

It was also claimed that Bournemouth could ask for up to £70 million for their player but one more detail was added in the report.

The structure of a deal for Semenyo remains undefined, the report explained, and could include a lower fixed fee with add-ons included.

United could eye Semenyo deal with favourable add-ons

United are very unlikely to commit £70 million on one player this summer, and if they did, it would probably be a more impactful player than Semenyo.

However, if that figure can be negotiated slightly lower, which having a favourable amount of add-ons included in the deal, United could make something work.

It was not explained what kind of add-ons Bournemouth would be willing to include but it’s likely that it would be a mix of easily achievement ones as well as those which rely on the signing becoming successful.

United’s leadership team will certainly look to explore what kind of deal can be made when the summer comes around but alternatives should also be sounded out.

For example, Lyon starlet Rayan Cherki is reportedly available for less than £30 million this summer and he impressed in the Europa League quarter-final tie against United.
