Manchester United are currently the frontrunners in their pursuit of a £70 million Premier League winger, although they face tough competition from England’s elite sides.
During the summer transfer window, Manchester United focused predominantly on strengthening their firepower, bringing in £200 million of talent to do so.
The likes of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško were acquired to solve the Reds’ goalscoring dilemma, and as shown in recent weeks, they have been successful.
United’s new-look attacking trio have been crucial during their recent unbeaten streak under Michael Carrick, contributing seven goals and two assists across their last five Premier League games.
Despite this run of form, United could be set to further bolster their forward line in the summer, and are currently the frontrunners for a £70 million winger.
United lead Ndiaye race
According to reports, United are set to spend big on their attack yet again this summer, having recently missed out on the signing of Antoine Semenyo to their bitter rivals, Manchester City.
As stated by CaughtOffside, the Reds are currently leading the race in their pursuit of Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, who has caught the eye of multiple Premier League sides.
With the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all rivalling the Reds for the Senegalese star’s signature, United may have to spend a fee in the region of £70 million to be successful.
The 25-year-old, who is renowned for his fantastic dribbling and his never-ending work rate, has managed five goals and two assists in 20 league games so far for the Toffees this season.
Is Ndiaye a necessary signing?
One of the key talking points surrounding Old Trafford since the Reds reverted to a more traditional 4-2-3-1 system has been where all of their talented attackers will fit in.
So far under Carrick, United have opted for a front four that includes Mbeumo through the middle, with Amad playing off the right wing, whilst either Cunha or Patrick Dorgu occupy the left flank.
If the Red Devils were to acquire the services of Everton’s silky winger, then this would surely end the experiment that has seen Dorgu play in a more advanced role.
With United having the Champions League in their sights for the next campaign, it is understandable that they would be keen to bolster their attacking depth, although, is £70million too steep?
