Manchester United are said to be monitoring the situation of 19 year-old Tromsø centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh.
Manchester United’s preparation for the summer transfer window will now be in full-swing with the club looking to take the next step towards becoming a title-challenging team.
Midfield will be the main priority of Jason Wilcox and co, but a new left-winger will likely also be on the agenda.
A centre-back signing also cannot be ruled out, but that will likely be dependent on the future of Harry Maguire. The 32-year-old’s current deal at Old Trafford is set to expire in June, but talks over an extension are said to be progressing well with optimism growing that Maguire will extend his stay in Manchester.
Should those contract negotiations hit a stumbling block though, a new centre-back could be added to United’s recruitment agenda.
United scouting Sedi Kinteh
With Maguire’s future uncertain, Manchester United are said to be closely following the development of Tromsø centre-back Abubacarr Sedi Kinteh. The 19-year-old has caught the eye of Jason Wilcox and United’s recruitment department, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The report claims that United’s CEO Omar Berrada and Wilcox are drawing up a plan for the youngster and there will be a scouting trip in Norway to watch him closely.
The relationship between United and Tromsø said to be quite positive and United have previously watched multiple games.
Kinteh has also attracted interest from London, with United’s league rivals Chelsea said to hold an interest. Eredivisie sides PSV Eindhoven and AFC Ajax have also made moves for the centre-back but United are leading the race.

United looking to continue recruitment strategy
Since taking over at Manchester United, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS have put an emphasis on signing some young talent for minimal fees.

Since INEOS’ arrival, United have secured the signatures of Ayden Heaven, Diego Leon, Chido Obi, Sékou Koné and Enzo Kana-Biyik.
The club reportedly also have a deal in place to sign 17-year-old midfielder Cristian Orozco from Fortaleza, adding to the stack of talented youngsters already at Old Trafford.
The advantage of signing players like these is that if they come good and fulfil their potential, the club would’ve signed a top-class player for almost nothing. And even if they turn out not to be at the required level, the club can then sell them on for what would still likely be a profit. This kind of recruitment is therefore absolutely crucial in helping the club towards long-term financial stability.
