A new star has entered Manchester United’s radar as the club shows interest in a huge summer move for a Premier League star.
Manchester United have shown in their recent transfers that they look for proven stars to add an immediate impact to the squad.
The previous summer window under Rúben Amorim saw the arrivals of Premier League-proven stars Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, who have both become crucial factors to United’s attack, even following Amorim’s dismissal as United manager.
With United currently chasing down a Champions League finish, another attacking signing may be the final touch to take them over the line and begin challenging for league titles again.
Fans have called out for a midfield signing, which looks to be inevitable, especially with the announcement that Casemiro will be leaving at the end of the season.
However, another player has appeared in United’s search across the Premier League, and has become a major target in United’s transfer hopes.
£120m move for Palmer
Cole Palmer has emerged as a potential target for Man United. Palmer took the league by storm when he arrived at Chelsea from Manchester City in 2023/24, where the Englishman totalled 40 goals and assists in 45 games across all competitions.
Whilst injuries have held him back in previous months, Palmer has continued to be Chelsea’s Talisman as they secured a UEFA Conference League title and Club World Cup title, as well as scoring in England’s Euro Final loss to Spain.
However, according to Fichajes, Manchester United have identified Cole Palmer as a new “top target” to rebuild the team next summer. The report states Palmer misses his hometown of Manchester and wants to return, with his boyhood club a serious option.
Fichajes say United are willing to spend an “unprecedented” £120 million to bring Palmer back to Manchester.
The 23-year-old is a born Manchester United fan and would have grown up seeing the success of the club at its highest, so the possibility of a move may swing in United’s favour, but £120m would be a record fee for United.
Palmer to replace Fernandes
United have relied on their captain, Bruno Fernandes, as the primary creator on the pitch since his arrival under Ole Gunnar Solskjær in 2020.
But conversations have grown over the previous transfer windows regarding a move away from Old Trafford for the Portugal international. Links to Bayern Munich and Al Hilal occurred, but Fernandes opted to remain at United, despite a reported £57 million release clause.
Palmer has demonstrated that he can secure control of a game and become the facilitator that Chelsea has depended on countless times since he signed.
Palmer also offers versatility for United, being able to operate on the right-hand side of the attack as a natural left-footer. His calmness under pressure, paired with his attacking efficiency, could revolutionise United’s attack in the hunt for trophies.
