Manchester United hit back after Sir Jim Ratcliffe criticised for recent decision
Manchester United have seemed to hit back against criticism against co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe after a recent decision.
Ratcliffe and INEOS have been in charge at United for several months now, and many changes have already happened.
Dan Ashworth, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox have been some of the important additions to the club behind the scenes, while upgrades have also started at Old Trafford.
Significant investment has also been made in the Carrington training complex, with the men’s team building undergoing a £50 million renovation.
However, reports emerged that the United men’s first-team squad would occupy the women’s and academy building throughout the next season while the project is ongoing.
This caused a level of backlash within the fanbase, with the women’s team reportedly set to spend the following campaign in portable buildings at Carrington.
Ratcliffe admitted that he has not been focused on the women’s team yet, although Dan Ashworth is now in the building, and his role focuses on all departments.
Interestingly, as Erik ten Hag’s team returned to pre-season training on Monday, an article on the club’s website seemed to offer a response to the criticism over the training ground reports.
United’s Communications Department wrote: “Redevelopment at Carrington means the players are using different facilities this season, as work gets under way to modernise their usual building elsewhere on the site.
“All our teams – men’s, women’s and Academy – will experience changes to their usual training environment this season as the project progresses, while maintaining access to high-quality facilities and pitches throughout.
“Once completed, all our teams will benefit from the major investment being made to bring Carrington back up to world-class standards.”
