Manchester United have hinted on social media that Lisandro Martínez may be involved in Manchester United’s squad to face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup.

Lisandro Martínez has not featured for Manchester United since 20 September 2023 during a 4-3 loss against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

After suffering a foot injury in the Europa League in April last season, Martínez was ruled out for the rest of the campaign due to undergoing surgery on his foot and was brought back into the team during pre-season.

He completed pre-season as expected and started in all of the club’s first six games of 2023/24, but after an assessment from doctors, it was found that his injury had not healed properly, and he had to undergo a second surgery to fix the issue.

He recently returned to full training in the new year after just over three months out undergoing his rehabilitation, and United have now hinted that he may be part of the squad to face Wigan on Monday.

A few days before each game, United release a “next match” graphic containting the image of a player, with the player almost always being one that is expected to feature in the squad – this, of course, hints that Martínez may be involved.

This comes as a surprise, with United having taken their time with respect to including injured players back in their squads.

Amad was in full trainng for almost a month before his reintroduction into the squad, with Kobbie Mainoo and Chrsitian Eriksen also undergoing similar routines of having at least a full week or two in training before returning to the field.

United fans are expected to find out the travelling squad on Monday as the team travel to Wigan from Manchester for the tie.
