Manchester United fans will love Joshua Zirkzee message, it’s exactly what Erik ten Hag wants
Manchester United fans and Erik ten Hag will both love a key message that Joshua Zirkzee has sent ahead of a potential move.
Zirkzee, 23, looks extremely likely to make the transfer to United in the coming weeks after he departs Euro 2024 with the Netherlands.
The Bologna forward has a £34 million release clause and the Reds have agreed terms with his agent over a salary and commission fees.
He will add much-needed depth to the striker position at Old Trafford and he has already proven that he understands an important message that Ten Hag is trying to recreate at the club.
The support of the fans at United is crucial and something that Ten Hag is trying to lean on and develop. They were critical at Wembley as United beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final.
Zirkzee already recognises the importance of the fans after immersing himself in Bologna. He recognised the need to repay them on the pitch.
“I love the fans, I love the people here. As I said, I really feel at home here,” he explained during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in February.
“The people of this city deserve at least 100 per cent effort from us because that’s what they give us every time.”
This will not only be something that the fans will love, but it is also a point-of-view that Ten Hag will appreciate.
As mentioned, the United manager has been focusing on improving the connection between the fans and players at Old Trafford.
“I think one of the goals before the season was to get the connection between the fans and players back again,” he said earlier last season.
“If we want to restore this great club, then we have to be [about] togetherness. To be together, fight together, with the right atmosphere, and when we create the right ambience, it’s really difficult for every opponent to play us.”
Zirkzee looks to be a player who can offer the club a lot of different abilities on the pitch, but for the fans, it is always important that a signing knows their importance, and it seems like he will.
