Manchester United ‘enter the race’ for Bryan Mbeumo as Rúben Amorim eyes £152.5m attacking trio this summer

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo this summer as part of securing a £152.5 million attacking trio for Rúben Amorim.

Matheus Cunha is currently looking like the prime target for the summer window, but news has broken recently suggesting Manchester United may look elsewhere inside the Premier League to try and improve their attack.

Goals have been a difficult thing to come by this season for Ruben Amorim’s side, and with Liam Delap and Cunha already targeted, it’s clear to see the type of recruitment policy INEOS are looking towards in the next window.

Rasmus Højlund’s and Alejandro Garnacho’s futures are not certain this summer, and with Marcus Rashford and Antony also anticipated to leave, United are expected to need a couple of reinforcements when the time comes.

Amid the need for attacking reinforcements, the club are targeting those with Premier League experience to add to Amorim’s attacking depth this summer.

Manchester United eyeing move for Mbeumo

According to The Telegraph, United are set to join the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo. Amorim’s side are reportedly ready to fend off competition when Mbeumo leaves Brentford this summer.

The 25-year-old is a hot commodity inside the Premier League, with Arsenal also set to be a club that attempts to bring him in this summer. Newcastle United and Liverpool are also other clubs that admire the Cameroon international.

According to recent reports, United are close to signing Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million. Many felt it would either be Cunha or Mbuemo, with the signings of both inside the same window unlikely. This report suggests otherwise, with United reportedly looking to bring in both.

With the club also keen on the £30 million-rated Liam Delap as a striker signing, the trio would likely cost the club around £152.5 million in transfer fees this summer.

Mbeumo and Cunha can reshape United

Signing both Mbeumo and Cunha in the same window would completely reshuffle United’s attack and transform one of the league’s most static forward lines into one of the most potent.

United used to sign players within the Premier League to huge success, and they seem to be returning to that type of thought process this summer. Despite the £152.5 million that must be committed to securing Delap, Cunha, and Mbeumo, it would arguably be one of the most well-thought-out £150 million they’ve spent in a long time.

This summer is huge for United recruitment-wise, and failure to get it right could set them back years if they are not careful. Mbeumo and Cunha are proven in the Premier League, and they would require a lot less time to make an impact if they were to be signed than if they were signed from abroad.

If reports are accurate, United need to make the signings of Mbeumo and Cunha mandatory this summer, especially if they do end up parting ways with Garnacho or Højlund, who have clear and confirmed interest from Italy.
