Manchester United have reportedly entered talks with a Premier League star Liverpool see as a replacement for Mo Salah, with Alejandro Garnacho’s sale key.
Manchester United’s summer is off to a flying start, with Rúben Amorim already making decisive moves to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.
Jonny Evans, Christian Eriksen, and Victor Lindelöf will all leave when their contracts expire next month. Amorim has also reportedly told Alejandro Garnacho he is free to find a new club, signalling a bold shift in direction.
Amorim is targeting several key areas for improvement, with a particular focus on attacking options and a midfield presence capable of controlling games and adding physicality.
United’s recruitment team are prioritising players who can meet the Premier League’s intensity, especially its speed and strength. Amorim’s past sides have occasionally struggled to cope with direct, athletic opponents, and the club are determined to build a tougher, more robust squad.
The club are set to complete the signing of Matheus Cunha for £62.5 million this week, and are also pushing to bring in Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap for £30 million.
United enter talks for Brentford star Mbeumo
With Amorim keen to add extra firepower to his front line in the next few months, United are scouring the Premier League market for further additions after Cunha and Delap.
With this in mind, talkSPORT have reported that the Old Trafford outfit have now entered into talks with Brentford winger Bryan Mbeumo surrounding a move this summer.
Mbeumo, who Liverpool previously saw as a perfect replacement for Mo Salah, notched 20 goals and seven assists in the 2024/25 league campaign and is also being pursued by Newcastle.
He has one year left on his contract and is said to be valued at around £50 million, with Brentford willing to let the player depart for an acceptable fee rather than see him leave for free next summer.
Garnacho’s sale to Napoli could be key
With Garnacho set to be sold this summer, United are demanding a fee of around £60 million for the 20-year-old winger, and multiple reports have stated that Napoli are keen on the player.

It has been relayed by the Manchester World that, in the event of Garnacho’s sale, United are pondering the possibility of putting that fee toward Mbeumo.
“I can definitely understand the interest in him,” Bees boss Thomas Frank said of Mbeumo following the final day of the season.
“There should be interest in him. He is at his best age, he has scored 20 goals. I would like to keep him, but we are a selling club so if someone comes in with the right price.”
